Dr. Derek Lamb is a solar physicist in the Department of Solar and Heliospheric Physics where he contributes to a wide range of projects. His research focuses on the analysis and interpretation of data on the solar surface magnetic field and the magnetic field’s connection to processes in the solar interior and solar atmosphere. He has had myriad roles in the PUNCH mission, including laboratory testing and analysis of the WFI instrument, post-launch mission operations, and being a member of the Science Operations Center team. He contributed to the Citizen CATE 2024 Solar Eclipse data reduction effort, and to the CubIXSS x-ray cubesat’s Science Operations Center. He earned a B.S. in Physics and Astronomy from Drake University, and a Ph.D. in Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences from the University of Colorado Boulder.
