Dr. Julien Salmon obtained his PhD in Astronomy and Astrophysics from University Paris 7, after which he joined SwRI in 2011. His research interests include modeling, through the development of numerical tools, the dynamical evolution of disks around stars and planets, and the formation of satellites from accumulation of disk material, in order to further understand the processes of planetary satellites formation, and in particular Earth’s Moon, and the satellites of Saturn, Mars and Uranus. Dr Salmon is a member of the Science Operations Center (SOC) of NASA’s Lucy mission. His responsibilities include the development of tools and observation sequences to help plan the activities that the spacecraft will execute when it flies by each of the mission’s target asteroids.
