Kevin Walsh

About

Kevin Walsh specializes in the formation and evolution of planets and asteroids in the Solar System. Kevin earned a degree in Physics from the University of Notre Dame, and a PhD in Astronomy from the University of Maryland. Kevin was a Poincare fellow at the Observatoire de Côte d’Azur in Nice, France, after graduate school and then was twice a Kavli Fellow as part of their Frontiers of Science program. He has written or co-authored hundreds of peer-reviewed publications on planet formation, asteroid family evolution and the formation of satellites around asteroids. He led a working group for NASA’s OSIRIS-REx asteroid sample return mission that successfully returned a sample from an asteroid to Earth.
