Michelle Kirchoff

Principal Scientist
Solar System Science and Exploration Division

About

Dr. Michelle Kirchoff is an expert in compiling and analyzing impact crater distributions throughout the solar system. These distributions are used to constrain the geologic history of planetary bodies and the impactors that created the craters. They have also worked on developing better statistical techniques for analyzing crater distributions, mountain formation on Jupiter’s moon Io, and creating fully controlled image mosaics of Mars.  Dr. Kirchoff has a BS in Physics from the University of Missouri – St. Louis and a PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis. They have been honored with an Outstanding Alumni Award from the Physics Department at the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
