Zach Talpas is a Senior Research Engineer in the Department of Space Operations in the Solar System Science and Exploration Division. He has experience in the development and operations of the Science and Mission Operations Centers for NASA and NOAA missions. He supported the development of the NASA Lucy Science Operations Center as a Systems Engineer. Once Lucy launched, he designed command sequences for the Lucy Long Range Reconnaissance Imager (L’LORRI) instrument. He supported multiple calibration activities as well as the Dinkinesh and Donaldjohanson flybys. Mr. Talpas was also the Mission Operations Center Systems Engineer for the NASA Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere (PUNCH) mission prior to launch and is currently the Deputy Mission Operations Manager. Additionally, he is the Mission Operations Center Systems Engineer for the in-development NOAA/NASA QuickSounder mission. He has a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
